For the week of February 11, 2018 | The Transfiguration of Our Lord
Announcements and Church Bulletin News
Financial Statements End of the year statements of giving are available for you to pick up in the narthex. If you have any questions about your statement please contact Laurie Behm at 781-6099 or Kimberly in the church office at 624-0333.
Be a “Clicker”! We need more people to “click slides” on our power point projector at both services! It’s easy and Mike will help you learn how! Call Kimberly in the church office if you can help 624-0333. A new schedule will begin soon.
VBS 2018 Do you wish you could help with VBS, but your work schedule keeps you from joining in the fun? We still need your gifts and passion for serving Jesus. There are several key roles behind the scenes that can be done according to your schedule. We need a publicity person. We are looking for someone comfortable with social media, creative, organized, and willing to try new ways of getting our message to the community. We need a registrar to coordinate online registration and paper registrations. This person would also set up on site registration procedures, but does not necessarily have to be present during VBS. After VBS the registrar would work with the director and the evangelism board. If you think this sounds exciting and fun, please let us know. 540-9012 or lglaskey@martinlutherjoplin.com.
SATURDAY POWER WALK 2.0 Join us on Saturday evenings for our Power Walk Service at 6:00 p.m. We study God’s word as we take a walk through the Bible together and enjoy some contemporary music along with prayer, praise and preaching! On the 4th Saturday of each month we enjoy live Gospel style music by some of our own very talented musicians!
Bible Institute 2018 – Sundays in February
Throughout the Old Testament we meet Servants of God like Joseph, Moses, Job and David, whose lives anticipate the suffering of Jesus Christ.
Immanuel’s 2018 Bible Institute will highlight how their lives can impact yours. Most important, our various presenters will focus on your loving Savior whose life, suffering, death, and resurrection assure you of life eternal with Him.
Join us in the Fellowship Hall, February 11, 18 and 25, from 2-4:00 pm for refreshments, fellowship and Bible study at the Bible Institute!
Burden or Blessing? Do the things you used to do in service to Jesus with joy now feel like nothing but stress? The joy of serving is often drained away by the burden of responsibility resting on too few shoulders. The VBS team is committed to making sure that every volunteer uses their gifts, whatever they may be, without being overburdened. Will we be busy? Yup. Will it be a little crazy at times? Yup. But we will also be praying together, studying the Bible together, and growing stronger in our faith and relationships with each other along the way. Are you in? 540-9012 or lglaskey@martinlutherjoplin.com.
Stewardship Message Mark 9:6 – “For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified.” Soon enough, the disciples’ terror turned into joy for when Jesus is with us, there is no need to fear. He loves us and cares for us and will never abandon us. That assurance is the basis of all generosity – for only those who are set free from worry can learn the joy of giving.
